Information

Year 11 Travel to Learn

There has been a change of finish times for BTEC Engineering, Young Apprenticeship - Engineering and ABC Motor Vehicle at TCAT and I was notified of this during the holidays, these courses will now finish at 4pm.

The start date for Travel 2 Learn is Tuesday 7th September and students will need to see their Head of House on Wednesday 8th September (Thursday 9th September for YA – Engineering) to collect timetables and start of school information. However, just to confuse things, Walford College starts on Tuesday 14th September so students at this provider will need to come into school in full uniform on Tuesday 7th September and go to their tutor groups for P1-2 and work in the LRC for P3-5.

T2L Transport arrangements are as follows:

  • AT Browns Bus 8.25am from school on Tuesdays – TCAT, Wellington, change for Walford Bus at TCAT (via Red House Roundabout and Muxton Clock Tower)
  • Mini Bus taxi from TCAT 4pm - BTEC Engineering, Young Apprenticeship Engineering and ABC Motor Vehicle (via Red House Roundabout and Muxton Clock Tower)
  • Taxi 8.15am from school on Wednesdays - Young Apprenticeship – Engineering and collected at 4pm from TCAT (via Red House Roundabout and Muxton Clock Tower)

Year 11 students and parents: Downloading past papers

Many Year 11 students and their parents attended the recent Revision Preparation Evening. One useful tip that was shared was to download past examination papers from the OCR and AQA websites. These comes as pdf files and can easily be printed off as 2 pages to one sheet (saving your printer ink!).

Markschemes can be found too! The papers can be used in a variety of ways for instance as 'open book' exams, using their revision guides to help out when they become stuck; or they can be used as timed examination practice. It is important that the student downloads papers of the correct tier and from the correct specification - this information can be found from the 'candidate statements of entry' which student were given some time ago.

These are the links to the websites:

•OCR: http://www.ocr.org.uk/pastpapermaterials/
•AQA: http://www.aqa.org.uk/admin/qp-ms_library.php
•Edexcel: Not available

Unfortunately Edexcel do not allow access to their library of past papers. For some people, working through past papers is the best way to revise and what is sure is that over a relatively short period of time (e.g. every 3-4 years) questions 'come up' again and again and so familiarity breeds confidence!

Lunchtime Supervisors Team

Below is a link to a copy of the leaflet that our Lunchtime Supervisors Team has developed. You will see that it builds on and supports the aims of the school and our 'Respect All' focus, and it sets out the Lunchtime Team's Mission Statement. It has been read and approved by the SLT and will be distributed to all our staff, parents, Governors and students. We would like to thank the Lunch Team and John Dooner, the consultant who helped in it's creation.
