Aims

The general aims of the Mathematics department can be summed up as follows:

To enable all students to build on the knowledge and skills gained at Key Stage 2.
To enable students to develop skills and understanding needed for life, employment and further study
To provide the Mathematics required across the curriculum
To provide students with a means of communication
To develop a student's appreciation and enjoyment of Mathematics
To enable students to work in a systematic way
To enable students to work co-operatively
To enable students to work independently in thought and action
Maintain and enhance the level of achievement overall which the Department has enjoyed, demonstrated by external examination results.
