KS3
The KS3 curriculum is designed to build a range of skills, both subject specific and personal and social, in order to develop the student as a whole, encouraging each individual to develop an understanding of performance and theatre, as well as consider a wide range of often challenging issues which are explored using Dramatic techniques.
KS4
Our GCSE Drama students follow the Edexcel GCSE Drama syllabus (Specification No.1699).
The course is structured to develop all necessary skills to be able to participate completely in the course. There is a high emphasis on group, communication, self -discipline and performance skills.
The course marks are awarded through the following assessments:
Portfolio- Two folders, a maximum six sides of A3 (or 12 sides of A4) each that will encourage students to analyse, interpret and form their own opinions about the Drama techniques they will be learning.
Workshops- Students must participate in two 6 hour workshops based around the areas of study for their portfolios.
Practical Examination- Students must participate in one live performance which will performed in front of an audience and an external examiner. The final marked examination will be at the end of Year 11.
