Burton Borough School Bands and Ensembles

Burton Borough School is very proud of the achievements of music ensembles based at the school. Every student is offered the opportunity to play a musical instrument and to join one or more of our bands and ensembles.

With the bands, students are given a wide range of opportunities to take part in concerts, competitions, tours and festivals all over the UK and Europe. Workshops with professional and specialist musicians are on offer to help develop and encourage the students with their music.

The hard work and commitment shown by students and staff has been rewarded over the last 4 years with our three biggest bands- Junior Wind Band, Concert Band and the Burton Borough Big Band winning 14 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze Award at the NCBF Regional and Final Festivals.

All of our ensembles take part in our Christmas and Summer Concerts, but many of them also take part in other concerts, festivals and gigs throughout the year. Every year our 3 biggest bands enter NCBF and also take part in gigs and concerts around the county. Junior Wind Band, Concert Band and Big Band regularly take part in fundraising concerts for local groups.
