The Burton Borough School

Year 7 Production

Every year the Burton Borough School performs a concert involving all Year 7 students, as a way of introducing the new pupils to the Arts Faculty and all the opportunities available to them. In previous years we have performed concerts that have looked at mans impact on the global environment- from mass migration from villages to cities in Africa to the importance of the rainforests and oceans as ecosystems. Over 100 performers take part each year and every concert has involved the whole school through performances, artwork etc.

Water for Life- November 2009

This years show was based around the work of WaterAid in Africa. WaterAid works in 17 countries providing water, sanitation and hygiene education to some of the world's poorest people. By giving people access to these simple things, WaterAid and its partners and supporters help save thousands of people a year from dying from preventable waterborne diseases.

Over 120 students took part in the show, that was about bringing water and sanitation to a village in Tanzania. The money raised from the two performances was donated to WaterAid to help them continue their work.

Ecuador- November 2008

As part of the whole school project to raise money to help build a health centre in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the Year 7 Concert gave a brief insight into the history of Ecuador- from the Incas to the present day through the eyes of a young girl and her Grandfather.
